Fintonic is a personal finance management platform operating across Spain and Latin America. I was part of the DevOps team responsible for modernizing the infrastructure — migrating from a Chef-managed IaaS model on AWS to a container-native Kubernetes architecture, while keeping the production platform running throughout.
My Role & Responsibilities
- Led the migration from a legacy IaaS platform (AWS + Chef) to a Kubernetes-based PaaS architecture
- Designed and implemented a CI/CD system using GitLab, GitLab CI, and Docker, replacing a manual deployment process
- Defined and maintained infrastructure as code using Terraform, Ansible, and Packer — versioned in Git
- Maintained the existing AWS infrastructure during the transition period
- Implemented observability across the platform using Datadog, Sentry, and the ELK stack
- Administered production databases: MongoDB, MySQL, and PostgreSQL on AWS RDS
- Managed RabbitMQ message brokers for event-driven microservice communication
